Katherine is a hub. We came here on our way north and we need to pass through once again to drive west. This time we stayed on the other side of town in a very pleasant site. The picture shows our idea of 'going back to basics'.
We were a tiny bit late to see the famed Ghan arriving at the station, all we managed to photograph was the name plate whilst it was stationary. We hae high hopes of catching a glimpse further down the line though, as it departs Katherine heading to Darwin.
A little patient wait by the roadside on the track leading north from Katherine was rewarded by a view of the Ghan powering north.
